The Association of Mining and Exploration Companies (AMEC), is the peak industry representative body for mineral exploration and mining companies throughout Australia with offices in Perth, Brisbane and Sydney.
Founded in 1981, our purpose is to facilitate a positive political and economic environment to grow the exploration and mining industry on behalf of our members.
We are regarded as an extremely professional, credible and effective advocate for the industry by governments, stakeholders, and our growing membership base.
At AMEC we have formed industry based standing committees and working groups to ensure our many policies and advocacy initiatives express our member’s views, which are integral to policy positions adopted and implemented by AMEC.
We represent all of our members equally on a wide range of issues and are governed by an Executive Council elected by our members.
AMEC has a number of standing committees that focus on specific issues affecting the industry as a whole. These committees allow members to become involved and directly influence AMEC’s direction and activities. They focus on the delivery of relevant, timely and accurate policy outcomes and advice to the Executive Council.
