Committees

Supporting the work of the Council are four standing Committees:

  • The Corporate Regulation and Taxation Committee;
  • The Mining Legislation Committee;
  • The Environment and Water Policy Committee; and
  • The Aboriginal Affairs Committee.

These Committees are actively involved in driving AMEC’s many policy and advocacy initiatives, and ensure that members’ views are integral to policy positions adopted by AMEC.

Aboriginal Affairs Committee

  • Advises Council and develops policy positions on issues related to Native Title, aboriginal heritage protection and associated issues.
  • Provides a strong advocacy for policy reform through direct and indirect representations and submissions to both the State / Territory and Federal Governments.

Corporate Regulation and Taxation Committee

  • Advises Council and develops policy positions on corporate regulation and taxation matters at the State / Territory and Federal Government levels.
  • Develops policy positions and assists in advocacy for positive change.

Environment and Water Policy Committee

  • Advises Council on matters relating to Commonwealth and State environmental protection and biodiversity and conservation issues, and on water policy issues.
  • Assists AMEC’s members by providing effective representations to governments on those issues.

Mining Legislation Committee

  • Advises Council on relevant mining legislation issues that impact on AMEC members.
  • Provides a key role in channelling the concerns of members to all Australian state and territory governments.
