AMEC’s membership includes a number of companies who are in various stages of exploring for uranium deposits, or are in the final stages of approvals prior to mining production commencing over the next few years. While many of the issues the uranium sector face are the same as other commodities, there are differing perceptions, community values and expectations. In order to deal with these various complex and sensitive issues AMEC formed the Uranium Working Group.
Terms of Reference
AMEC’s Uranium Working Group meets on an as needs basis to discuss issues, develop policy and provide expert advice to the AMEC Council and Executive staff on uranium related matters.
Issues may include:
- Royalties
- Access to transport infrastructure
- Approvals
- Safety, best practice methodologies
- Education and awareness
AMEC also supports the Uranium Association of Australia by regularly attending their meetings and providing policy input when and where appropriate.
