In 2016, the Australian Government committed an initial four-year $100 million investment into Geoscience Australia’s Exploring for the Future (EFTF) Program. Under the EFTF program, Geoscience Australia identified Ni-Cu-PGE potential in the Wheatbelt region. Following this detection, and Chalice Mining’s subsequent greenfield PGE-Ni-Cu-Au discovery, there has been an significant increase interest in exploring in the Wheatbelt.
In order to support members active in the area, AMEC has formed a Wheatbelt Working Group, and have developed several documents to explain exploration and land access rights. AMEC’s focus is on ensuring good communication and strong stakeholder engagement across the region to enable exploration programs to proceed with community support.
