The Mining Warden in Victoria is an independent statutory office holder with an important role focussed on resolving issues around minerals exploration activity, land access and the development of mining projects. The Mining Warden investigates and works to resolve disputes by mediation, conciliation and arbitration and can make recommendations to the Minister for Resources. Mr de Zilwa is a highly experienced barrister and mediator who has been a member of the Victorian Bar since 1981 and was appointed Mining Warden in November 2019. The Mining Warden is an independent statutory office holder with an important role focussed on resolving issues around minerals exploration activity, land access and the development of mining projects. The Mining Warden investigates and attempts to resolve disputes by mediation, conciliation and arbitration. The Mining Warden can also make recommendations to the Minister for Resources.
