Mining in Victoria and Tasmania

Victoria has a rich source of various mineral deposits which have been an integral part of the States economic and social fabris for over 150 years.

Recently, there has been resurge in the gold sector across the western and northern part of the state with significant operations  at Fosterville, Ballarat, Stawell.

Victoria’s mines directly injected $510 million into the state economy
in 2020-21 in high wage regional jobs, buying local with more than half
their supplier spend in Victoria and support for community grants and
taxes.

In 2022, Victoria had a record high exploraiton spend of $221M with mining paying around $140M in royalties to the state.

AMEC works with the Victorian Government to strengthen the minerals industry and maximise resources for all Victorians.

Tasmania is a growing destination for exploration and mining, boasting broad geological diversity and an abundance of exciting mineral deposits. AMEC advocates to promote and advance the minerals industry in Tasmania and support the State to grow its industry.
